Today in Our AVID class we got to visit the symposium and it was really good. Everyone one there new what they were talking about and there boards showed a lot of good work. One that really stood out to me was one about homophobia, it talks about how it contributes to the LGBT community and like data taken from the Mendez student body that shows how many people approve of LGBT rights and how many people see it at school. They also showed this sort of memorial thing to recognize the people who where different and got killed because of that unique side of them. I also like that they put the Trevor Project pamphlet on there because If people are confused and have question all they have to do is call.
I read this really good book called TORN by K.A Robinson. Its about this girl named Chloe and this boy named Drake in college and they fall in love with each other when they thought they were ''Never Loved''. They both had a rough child hood, Chloe had a dead beat mother and Drakes parents died when he was young so he lived with his absent uncle for the rest of his life. As they struggled to find that special bond that was mingling in the atmosphere towards each other. During Chloe's confused days she dates her best friend Logan who's had the biggest crush on her since high school knowing she didn't really have the same feeling for him like she did for Drake, and Drake the lead singer in his band didn't think he could find love just one night stands and he wasn't in his right mind either because he didn't know if he loved Chloe or not so he just lead her on.After they professed there undying love for one another they get to see that they might just work out and "Never Loved " is no longer in there life for they are now "Forever Loved".
This week In AVID we built a really cool rocket with a partner (Stephanie) and it was really fun. We learned how gravity plays a key role in the experiment along with thrusting. We launched our rockets on Day 2 and it was cool i got all wet and failed at the para-shoot making aspect of it because it totally fell to the ground. After Me and Stephanie had our turn others went up until Bryan broke it after it shot right up at his face. It was cool and I enjoyed it a lot and I hope we can do this again
Last week Me and My AVID class visited the University Of California, Irvine It was such a fun experience. We had an awesome tour guide named Jackson and he was really funny, he had to walk backwards for a mile and I thought he was going to fall but he didn't so that was good. After we finished the tour we went to go see the student dorms and how they throughout the school year and if you asked me it is really small room. When we finished the the dorm tour we sat down on the benches and waited for the other classes but while we were waiting Mr.Chang asked me and three other girls to interview UCI students about there life at UCI and what there majoring In and If they enjoy It. Other than that it was really fun and cool.
